These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website at pmagtools.com and any associated tools (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Pmag Tools reads, and performs gated writes of configuration parameters — including ignition timing — to, E-MAG / P-Mag electronic ignition systems over a USB-to-serial connection in your web browser. It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's own configuration software and documentation, for the engine or ignition documentation, or for your aircraft's documentation.
The builder, owner, and pilot in command remain solely responsible for every value written to the ignition and for verifying the result before returning the aircraft to service or flight.
Pmag Tools is intended solely for use on experimental / amateur-built (E-AB) aircraft that you own or are authorized to maintain and modify. By using the Service, you represent that:
Modifying an ignition's configuration on a type-certificated aircraft generally requires approved data and procedures that this tool does not provide. Do not use the Service for that purpose.
Pmag Tools is software only — an aid, not a substitute for the manufacturer's configuration software or official documentation. When you use it, you are exercising your own latitude, as the builder or owner of an experimental aircraft, to maintain and modify your own aircraft.
You are solely responsible for:
You assume all risk arising from your use of the Service.
The Service (this website, the tool, the read and write functions, the in-browser telemetry and preview, any codec or library, and any sample or demo data) is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.
The Service communicates with physical hardware over a serial connection. It was developed independently and is not manufacturer-documented or manufacturer-approved. No warranty is made that the Service will be error-free, that any value it reads or writes is correct, that a written value will apply, persist, or be safe for any engine or aircraft, or that the Service is compatible with any particular unit, firmware revision, or installation. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from the Service creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the operator of pmagtools.com be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including without limitation damages for loss of profits, data, or use; personal injury or death; or damage to property, aircraft, engines, or equipment — arising out of or in connection with:
even if the operator has been advised of the possibility of such damages. You assume all risk and responsibility for the use of the Service and its output.
The Service is for ground maintenance of experimental aircraft only. It is not intended for use in flight, as a primary engine or flight instrument, or for any purpose where failure could result in personal injury, property damage, or loss of life, and shall not be relied upon for any such purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of the operator for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you have paid to use the Service (which, as the Service is free, is zero) or, at the operator's option, to re-supplying the Service to you.
Pmag Tools is an independent, unofficial, third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with E-MAG Ignitions, PowerUP Ignition Systems, Hartzell Engine Tech, Hartzell Aviation, or any related entity.
"E-MAG", "P-Mag", and any other product names referenced by the Service are the names and marks of their respective owners and are used here nominatively only — to identify the hardware the Service is designed to interoperate with. To the extent any such name is a trademark of its owner, no affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship is claimed or implied, and no rights in those marks are asserted by the operator. The Service was developed independently and is not manufacturer-documented or manufacturer-approved.
Pmag Tools reads from and writes to your ignition hardware entirely within your web browser, using the Web Serial API on your own computer.
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, to disrupt or attack the Service or the website, or to bypass any security measures. You agree not to use the Service on any aircraft or engine for which you are not authorized to perform the work, or in any manner inconsistent with the aviation-safety requirements above.
You retain all rights to your ignition configuration data and to any JSON backups you create with the Service. Because the read and write operations run entirely in your browser, the operator does not receive, store, transmit, or have access to that data.
If you submit feedback, comments, ideas, or suggestions about the Service (for example, via the Feedback form), you grant the operator a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for any purpose, including incorporating it into the Service, without obligation to you. Your feedback is treated as non-confidential.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operator of pmagtools.com from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including but not limited to attorneys' fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use of and access to the Service; (b) any value you write to, or change you make to, your ignition or aircraft, and any maintenance, modification, or operation of your aircraft; (c) your violation of any of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or regulation or any third-party right. This includes, without limitation, any claim for personal injury, death, or property damage arising from your use of the Service or your aircraft.
The Service is provided free of charge. The operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, without notice or liability. The operator may also restrict access to anyone who abuses the Service or violates these Terms.
The operator may update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the effective date of the current version. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service that cannot first be informally resolved between you and the operator shall be submitted to the federal or state courts located in the State of Colorado.
For questions about these Terms, use the Feedback button on the tool page.
